Surprise Recreation Campus first opened in December 2002. This facility is an incredible addition to the city of Surprise. The venue has a total of twelve practice fields with the entire campus covering 200 acres. The Kansas City Royals share this stadium with another American League ballclub, the Texas Rangers of the American League West. Surprise Recreation Campus is large and diverse enough that high school state baseball tournaments as well as national and international tennis events have been held at this facility over the years. Surprise used to be a small area of the Valley of the Sun. Today this stadium attracts tourists from all over the country every year wanting to see Cactus League spring training action at a great stadium.
