The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim first joined Major League Baseball in 1961 as a member of the American League and with an original team name of the Los Angeles Angels. The franchise was not able to immediately secure a deal for a new stadium in the Los Angeles area, so during the team’s first season it played at Wrigley Field in Los Angeles and then moved to the stadium where the Los Angeles Dodgers made its home from 1962-1965. The stadium was called Chavez Ravine for Los Angeles Angels home games.

The Angels finally secured a deal in Anaheim for a new stadium that was opened in 1966. Like the name of the team this stadium has changed names over the years, with the name of the venue being Anaheim Stadium from 1966-1997, Edison International Field from 1998-2003 and currently Angel Stadium of Anaheim. The team has changed names three times during its tenure in the Major Leagues: Los Angeles Angels 1961-1965; California Angels 1965-1996; Anaheim Angels 1997-2004; Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 2005-present.
