Oakland Athletics Spring Training Tickets
The Cactus League of Arizona is a tremendous place for Major League Baseball teams to train when getting ready for the upcoming regular season. The beautiful weather is a delight for the teams and the rabid baseball fans that pack Cactus League venues in late February and March. The Oakland Athletics moved into one of the classic stadiums of the Cactus League in 1982, Phoenix Municipal Stadium.
The locals commonly refer to the stadium as “Phoenix Muni”. This venue first opened in 1964 and was originally the spring training home for the San Francisco Giants. Hall of Famer Willie Mays hit the first spring training home run at Muni. When MLB’s New York Giants moved to San Francisco the team brought with them the famous light poles from the Polo Grounds. Those poles still stand at Phoenix Municipal Stadium today.
Phoenix Muni was also home to the Phoenix Giants minor league baseball team until that squad moved to Scottsdale Stadium. The team was also called the Phoenix Firebirds while playing at Phoenix Muni and featured players such as Willie McCovey, Matt Williams and Chili Davis that would later go on to star in the Major Leagues.
Baseball fans have been packing this stadium for decades during spring training. Athletics fans can purchase A’s tickets when visiting this website with ticket purchases supporting the Charro Foundation, a great charity based in Scottsdale, Arizona. The Charro Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization which supports the community, youth, schools and educators in a variety of ways. The Charro Foundation provides scholarship funds to high school seniors pursuing a Bachelor’s in Education, as well as teachers wishing to obtain their Master’s degree in Education.
The most recent renovation to Phoenix Muni occurred in 2003. The seating capacity at this stadium is 7867 with the unique accordion shaped roof being one of the trademarks of this venue.
